We are pleased to announce that we have a series of new Saturday morning Pattern & Stitch classes aimed at the beginner. The course will clearly explain every stage and learners will leave knowing how to create and stitch their own garments.
Spread over 3 Saturday mornings, 9 – 1pm, tutor Humeera Dar will teach the fundamentals of creating a pattern and making up a garment.
The agenda will be as follows:
Saturday 21st September – 9 to 1pm
9:00 to 9:30 – Intro to Fashion Enter, health safety and factory tour
9:30 to 10:30 – Taking body measurements
10.30 to 10.45 – Tea
10.45 to 12.50 Skirt block own size
Saturday 28th September – 9 to 1pm
9:00 to 11.00 – Introduction sewing match. Threading the flatbed Straight stitch X 2 Squares X 2 Curves X 2 Edge stitch X 2 Foot gap
1cm 11:00 to 11:15 Tea
11:15 to 12.50 Make a pattern of skirt block, plus waistband and cut out to toile
Saturday 5 th October – 9 to 1pm
9:00 to 10:30 Stitch up and fit skirt toile
10:30 to 10:45 Tea
10:45 to 12:50 Complete work If time allows ½ size skirt Adaptations Inverted pleat Wrap over Yoke, panels and kick flare.
Saturday Morning Pattern & Stitch Class takes place on the 21st, 28th September and 5th October and costs £100- per morning session (£300 for the 3 sessions). Please note class size is kept small to ensure quality tuition so places are limited.
