The FTA has recently undertaken a series of moderation assessments with awarding body UAL.
Moderation reports take place to ensure learners evidence is complete and genuinely meets all the required assessment criteria. The three reports below were conducted throughout 2021 for the Level 3 Fashion Studio Apprenticeship programme with three different learners
UAL ‘s report commented:
‘This is the final moderation for the current cohort of FSA students at Fashion Enter. The Centre have continued to provide an experience of the highest quality for the apprentices taking this programme and have made all reasonable adjustments throughout due to the restrictions placed on them by COVID’
‘Despite the on-going restrictions placed on access to resources and the learning environment due to Covid the completing student has remained highly engaged with the programme and is now ready to undertake the EPA. She has clearly achieved a standard commensurate with professional practice, evidencing, knowledge, skill and understanding in her work.’

A previous report in March 21 when discussing apprenticeship tutor Louis commented:
‘The Centre tutor has implemented a very methodical process of tracking and monitoring students throughout the apprenticeship. Students provide written or verbal evidence supported by a reference to the portfolio
with a noted completion date against each assessment criteria. Tutor comments are extensive for each completed unit with both positive and constructive feedback to help improve performance and this has contributed to the high standards achieved by both the completing apprentices.’

The third report commented:
‘There is substantial on-going tracking, monitoring, assessment and feedback for each task and unit, on completion the IQA reviews the evidence for each unit and provides comments and further guidance to ensure that the work is fully meeting expectations for the pass criteria. Referral work is signposted and signed off on completion. Assessment is rigorous, accurate and there is an effective internal QA/IV process in place.’
