Leicester: FAB-L Impact for Workers – Connection and Collaboration Event

FAB-L (Fashion-workers Advice Bureau – Leicester) is hosting an immersive event alongside FCFTA Leicester, Labour Behind the Label, and others to explore collective efforts on creating a supportive ecosystem for garment workers entering and navigating the sector. Taking place at Highfields Centre in Leicester this is an interactive event, and attendees are encouraged to share how they can support and be involved.

Connect with: Host FAB-L and collaborators: ASOS, FC Fashion Technology Academy, Just Good Work, Labour Behind the Label, The University of Manchester, Stronger Together’s Fast Forward and Transform Trade.

This free event is open to garment factories and their employees with the aim to shine some “positivity” on Leicester and its workforce, highlighting efforts to advance the sector while promoting fair labour practices and UK-based production. The Worker Journey segment will immerse attendees in a scenario where they step into the shoes of a worker arriving in Leicester to join the Garment and Apparel industry. A slide or infographic will illustrate the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders in creating and how their interconnected aims to support every step of the worker’s journey. A moderator will facilitate discussions with each collaborator, delving into how their contributions directly benefit workers.

Team members from FEL / FCFTA will be present to explain how they can support with essential training and courses such as the Level 1 Award in Workers’ Rights and Labour exploitation along with support for Made in the UK supply chains.

Impact for Workers – Connection and Collaboration will take place Wednesday 12th June 2024 from 13:00 – 16:00.
