Jo price is a tutor at the Fashion Technology Academy, she has over 12 years’ experience in teaching and has been at the FTA since November 2017. Jo specializes in teaching the level 3 apprenticeships in garment production and manufacture quality.
Jo first realised that she wanted to pursue a career in Fashion at the age of 11, after watching a fashion show on TV. Jo did a foundation course in art, a design course specialising in fashion and earned a degree in fashion. Whilst studying, she frequently worked with designers, producing and designing clothes. Jo started working as a teacher at Barking Dagenham College in 2001 since then has never looked back. During her time there, she specialised in teaching BTEC level 1-3 in fashion textiles.
What Jo loves the most about teaching is seeing the students succeed, she enjoys interacting with people and coming up with new ways of doing things. Jo says the most rewarding thing she gets out of teaching is seeing people achieve their dreams.
“When I see my students leave my course with a qualification, it’s just the most wonderful feeling”
In her free time Jo designs and creates handbags that have been turning quite a few heads and getting interest from shops that would like to stock them.
Jo says she wants to continue teaching and designing and in the future would like to further develop her skills by attending both the FTA Stitching Academy and pattern cutting courses.
“Since being at Fashion Enter I have really got to see the intricate side of the manufacturing and learnt about the small but crucial details that go into the garment production process. I love the ethos behind Fashion Enter, it really nurtures people, it nurtures skills, it nurtures talent and it offers new patch ways and career opportunities”
Jo said that she is extremely happy that she works at The FTA because since coming here she has been offered so many opportunities. Since joining The FTA, Jo has become more confident and grown as an individual. She also feels that working at The FTA has released the best version of herself and she has realised her full potential.
Jo plans to continue teaching at Fashion Enter for a very long time and in the future would love get involved in other aspects of the company whilst having her own fashion label on the side.
“Knowing that there is a company where I can pay to get a small range made is just wonderful and working at that place is even better
