FEL’s New Information Advice and Guidance Procedures

We have a new policy on IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance) to support all learners and apprentices that FEL’s educational division, the Fashion Technology Academy, works with.

Why is our course occupancy rate up by 500%? Because FEL has developed a strong working relationship with CCCG (Capital City College Group) for the delivery of technical skills in fashion Levels 1 – 3.

We ensure all students that undertake learning with us receive high quality support and information that will help them decide their next steps into further education or the workplace. The feedback from our IAG sessions has been fantastic with learner’s saying that they had found out about a wider spectrum of courses and career routes.

Along with providing established, high quality information to aid career guidance FEL has implemented the eight Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance:

1. A stable careers programme

2. Learning from career and labour market information

3. Addressing the needs of each pupil

4. Linking curriculum learning to careers

5. Encounters with employers and employees

6. Experiences of workplaces

7. Encounters with further and higher education

8. Personal guidance

Feedback from the learners included:

“I have learnt about the next steps if I want to start my own brand or rent a space. It’s all about the different opportunities on the next steps and it’s really helpful. Thank-you.” – M

“The teachers gave me nice advice on how to improve my learning and what I can do in the future.” – N

“I have found out that there are a range of options available following this course.” – D

“I have learnt about options for progression, thank-you.” – B

FEL / FTA Head of Education Lan Leeder said: “The Next Steps IAG presentation took place on February 15, 2024, at the FC Designer Workspace and The Factory. The purpose of the presentation was to provide our learners with the best advice and guidance following the course. The options discussed included progressing to the next level, applying for an apprenticeship, seeking employment, applying to higher education, or taking a break. The feedback from our IAG sessions has been overwhelmingly positive, with learners expressing that they have gained insight into a broader range of courses and career paths.”

Jenny Holloway, Founder and CEO at Fashion-Enter Ltd commented: “The education and skills attainment we provide must really kickstart the learners careers and have a lasting impact. I personally feel as though it’s a great honour to be trusted with a learners education and therefore want them to have an outstanding learning journey with us. It is therefore essential we provide good quality advice and support that will benefit the learner beyond the classroom.”
