At Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) we actively encourage staff to gain any further skills to enable them to progress professionally and personally. ESOL stands for English for Speakers of Other Languages, and all over the UK there are lots of different types of English classes from beginner level to advanced. Over the last 10-weeks, one staff member – Inna, has been attending an ESOL course to improve her English speaking skills.
Inna recently came to the UK from the Ukraine and we were pleased to support her with a job at our Haringey factory. Meanwhile, the local Job Centre arranged for her to attend an ESOL course. The course started mid-October 2022 and Inna attended the 4-hour classes on a weekly basis. She has now completed her final exam and has become more confident to speak in English with the rest of the team.
Inna comments: “I’m so pleased to be working at FEL. Coming from Ukraine has been difficult, but FEL has welcomed me with open arms and provided me with a full-time job. Now they are supporting my ESOL classes each week allowing me to take time out to complete the course. It’s great to be part of a genuine social enterprise that cares about their staff and their learners.”
Claire Solley FEL Head of Technical Development added: “Inna’s English-speaking skills have improved so much since joining Fashion-Enter, especially after starting the weekly course. Good English skills are essential in a fast-paced working environment to ensure clear communication throughout the team.”
