On the 3rd May 2022 the Fashion-Enter / FTA team welcomed two groups of students from the Fashion Retail Academy based in central London. Split into morning and afternoon sessions the groups gained factory floor insight, visiting each work station and followed the garment manufacturing process from beginning to end.
Many of the students have already started their own brands, selling at markets and online so the emphasis on these two sessions was on start up advice and the implementation of technology for speed and accuracy. Starting from the very beginning the students saw the team work with CAD software to create production ready patterns, this was following by a visit to the cutting table, the machinists and quality control station. The students also received lots of advice on starting a brand and all the areas they need to consider to ensure that they are ready along with the information they need to supply their manufacturer and the common pitfalls to look out for.
Feedback from the students included:
“I learned a lot about the overall process of manufacturing and additional information about 3D design software which I have been wanting to know about. I enjoyed the seminar much more than I expected to. Thanks so much!”
