Over the last few weeks (September / October 2022) Head of Technical Development, Claire Solley, has been teaching the Optitex garment technologist course to staff from the etailer ASOS.
The two-day course takes existing 2D pattern cutting skills a step further with Optitex’s innovative technology. This software is not only excellent for pattern making but 3D rendering and garment manipulation on avatars.
Garment techs are able to adapt design and construction without the need for physical sample making, providing a cost effective and time efficient alternative for the garment development process.
Claire commented: “It has been great working with ASOS on the Optitex garment technologist course. During the 2 days we looked at how they can fit the 3D garment digitally, as well as check key areas on the 2D pattern. We discussed ways they can work with their suppliers efficiently as well as cover potential issues they might come across when using the software and how they can resolve them.”
Feedback included:
“The course was very informative, engaging and user friendly. I have learnt so much during the 2-day session, definitely skills I will be applying day-to-day at work.”
“This has allowed me to expand my knowledge going forwards.”
“I have taken away a lot of learnings on this system that will help support me when working with my supply base.”
“Really amazing teacher, very patient with all questions. Really easy to understand and implement to our working day.”
“Claire is a good tutor, she explained the software in detail and made it user friendly.”
“I’ve really enjoyed the two days. Claire is very knowledgable and went through everything at a good pace. I think 4 students at once is a good number. We also had lots of good discussions about the benefits of the system.”
“I really feel confident going forwards using Optitex. I feel I can go into a fit session and use Optitex confidently.”
