60 Buying students from FRA take Virtual Factory Tour
On 15th February 60 buying students from the Fashion Retail Academy attended a virtual factory tour with Production Director Caroline Ash.
Taking place via zoom due to COVID restrictions the students were provided with a thorough review of the industry, how we are an ethical factory, what policies we have in place, audits, who we work with and the complete garment production process including critical path.
Caroline was then filmed on the factory floor so she could show the students each operation in action from the fabric delivery, the cutting table, bundles, different machines from cover stitch to over locker, then pressing, finishing and packing.
The students were then shown the Fashion Studio where they were given a demonstration of digital design software Optitex and the complete sampling process was explained.
Feedback included:
‘We were shown different systems used like Optitex to help with fit and creating real life visuals of products.
I learnt a lot by seeing the actual processes happening on the floor and seeing processes in action. Really informative - lots of useful information!’ Georgia
