Fashion Marketing and Management students of Southampton University Factory tour
On Monday 19th February. Fashion Enter hosted a factory tour for the Fashion Marketing and Management students of Southampton University. After receiving a presentation and an introduction to the company, students were lead into the factory where they got to learn important skills about health and safety and the stages of the garment making process, from the very beginning when the fabric is on a cutting table, to the sewing machine, pressing, quality control and to the very end when it is ready to be packed.
Students then went up to the Fashion Studio where they got explained what a tech pack is and how patterns are formed, what grading is, how the toile is created then what the final sample looks like.
Some of the students from today’s visit would like to go into fashion buying so it was essential and very beneficial for them to understand what goes into garment construction and how a supplier operates.
It was a delight to have the Fashion Marketing and Management students of Southampton University today, and we are happy to have taught them the running of a fashion factory.
Here are a few comments from the students:
“I think it’s so honourable to give back to the local community and really focus on education. This is such a good and ethical factory.”
“I thought the tour was very insightful and interesting.”
“Really enjoyed the tour very insightful and informative. Thank you.”
