Factory Uncovered CPPD with River Island

On the 20th September 2019 Production Director Caroline Ash and her team welcomed a group of nine individuals from River Island, a mix of Assistant Buyers, Garment Tech’s and Menswear Tech’s for a CPPD ‘Factory Uncovered’ workshop.

The four-hour workshop gave an in-depth review of ethical manufacturing in the UK. Led by Caroline she explained in detail the costing process and how design and sampling is incorporated into the pricing structure. Caroline also discussed the complete garment production cycle which included pattern lays, fabric cutting and the different machines used for each operation, AQL's and the metal detector/needle policy. She also talked about the importance of a happy and productive workforce, the benefits of the Galaxius system and general health and safety.

Once again we received great feedback achieving 10 out of 10 on the majority of the feedback forms:

“It was great to see how a factory should work, and to see a metal detector and needle policy in action.” - Victoria
