LSC Careers Event – Let’s Highlight the Progression Options to Leyton Sixth Form Students 2019

Esme, Operations Manager at the FTA attended a careers event at Leyton Sixth Form on 7th February 2019. This was a great opportunity to promote the Fashion Technology Academy and potentially recruit onto our Apprenticeships, Stitching Academy and Perfect Patterns cutting programmes.  The target group were students on one-year courses, which are Level 1 and 2 students, particularly interested in training, apprenticeships and employment as well as volunteering and community opportunities.

There were many other organisations hosting stands at this event. Esme met with different attendees such as Paul Coster, from Waltham Forest local council, Elizabeth Mahoney from Legends of the Forest, a volunteering programme for the London Borough of Culture 2019

Ashley McClinton Director of Skills2Use, a free app on Iphone and soon available for free on Android to support learners with interview preparation or those who want to brush up on their existing skills https://www.skills2use.com/

Andree Selner, Head of Education at Leyton Orient Trust

Whitehat apprenticeships

Esme commented: ‘A Big thank-you to The Careers Team at Leyton Sixth Form- Bronwen Eldridge, Sam McCarthy & Jade Wallace. It was really great to meet local organisers who have the same commitment as us towards learners’ growth and development. I look forward to finding ways of working together towards this aim. Some of the young learners were interested in our Level 3 Fashion and Textiles Apprenticeship programme as well as showing interest in modelling!’
