Islington: 4 Day Beginner’s Sewing and Upcycling February Workshop

February 13 - February 16

This course has been designed for beginners to provide individuals with the confidence and skills to not only create a garment from a pattern but to also tailor and upcycle an existing item.

This is a highly creative course working on industrial sewing machines at our affordable workspace created in partnership with Islington Council and taught by industry experts Ana, Nick and Gintere.

Learn how to revamp your wardrobe with customisation tips, creative tailoring and alteration techniques. Our experts will help achieve a fit that flatters and rework your items into wardrobe staples that will stand the test of time.

What you will learn:

+ How to correctly take measurements

+ How to thread an industrial sewing machine

+ Learn different stitches and tensions

+ Understand how to cut fabric from a pattern

+ Learn about the different fabrics and how they are different in handling

+ How to sew straight lines, around corners and how to do sleeves

+ How to make a garment from a pattern

+ Techniques to upcycle an existing garment

+ How to tailor an existing garment to your body shape

At this workshop we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment open to all abilities and goals be that for personal or professional use.

Dates and Times: This course takes place from Monday 13th February – Thursday 16th February 10am – 3pm.
